APEX East Arvada Recreation Center draft site plan
Last night we previewed the first draft programming and layout plans for the proposed recreation center that would primarily serve the Eastern portion of Arvada from its South to North border. The site plan was very impressive and offers aquatics (lap and recreational), a gymnasium, a running track, fitness area, and potentially a sky diving training feature that could possibly be funded and operated by a private for-profit entity.
The architecture would be very similar to the Arvada Center campus to the North and offers a very nice connecting pathway between the two sites and the planned outside sculpture garden. Director Mike Miles described an optional running track with banked corners and one end of the track would be all glass with gorgeous views of the Denver skyline.
All of the programming elements and any other recreational items for a possible 2014 bond election to “renew” the bonds that built the Apex center will be coming out to the public soon so please keep an eye out for the announcement. Truly exciting times for Apex and Arvada !
