Simms Street Recreation Center (phase iv) opens.
Yes. We opened the last phase of the Apex Simms Street Recreation Center last week. What a great day for the Apex Community as we celebrate more fitness programming and another multi-purpose gym area for all sorts of youth and adult activities. There is a great local government story to be told for this facility as well as it will help all special districts in Jefferson County.
In 2012 the Apex Park and Recreation district board and executive director initiated efforts wit the Jefferson County Commissioner’s and Director to request a policy change that would enable Special Districts to receive the deed for any donated property. Prior to this granted property could only be deeded to a City or County. And in 2014, the Apex Park and Recreation district was the first Park and Recreation District to receive a facility deed as a reward for our efforts.
This was another great example of working collaboratively with other small community governments behind the scenes to make the lives for Arvadan’s and District Residents better. Please help me continue to achieve results like this for Arvada by supporting my campaign for Arvada City Council. @ArvadaPress @denverpost @ApexPRD #whitfieldforarvada
